Great Cause

Tomorrow is the Susan G. Komen race for the cure in Dallas! It is going to be a great event and the foundation does such great things for women diagnosed with this horrible disease! The race starts a 7:30 am! I am proud to be a part of the top fundraising team--Laidley's Ladies. Dr. Laidley is a breast surgeon at Texas Oncology in Medical City and every year she pays the entry fee for any and all of her patients that would like to run/walk in the race! What an awesome thing! This year as of today the Laidley's Ladies team has raised $27,864.00--How incredible is that! This month is breast cancer awareness month so take a minute and say a prayer for all the courageous women fighting this disease! Good luck to all the runners/walkers tomorrow!

Rain Gauge

Everyone who knows Dirk, knows he is a handy-man!  He can do almost anything from remodeling a house to sewing to making fancy cakes!  I am pretty proud if you can’t tell.  Anyway, his most recent project was a rain gauge.  He likes to know how much rain we get and the last rain gauge we had broke, not to mention it was not very cute.

Let me back up a bit.  For those of you who know me, know I frequent First Monday (usually monthly).  The past few months I have noticed this rain gauge that I thought might be cute for one of our flower beds.  At first I thought it was cheesy but it grew on me.  So this past month, I stopped and actually took a good look and saw it was $21.  Not really that expensive but Dirk swore he could make one so we didn’t buy it.  I just assumed it would be one of those things that we always want to make but never get around to doing.  Much to my surprise on Monday evening after work, I came home and Dirk was assembling this rain gauge!  It turned out very cute and it is better than the one at First Monday because it is homemade!  Christmas is around the corner so let me know if I should put it on my list for you!!!

Notice the Crystal Water Droplet!

Good Report

I saw Dr. Martin yesterday and everything is good. My mom went with me and it was nice to have her there. We listened to the baby's heart beat which was strong and he/she was moving like crazy. I sometimes think I can feel the baby just not quite sure yet. The most exciting thing is that in 4 weeks we get to find out what we are having! I still think it is a girl but you never know. Dirk and I decided we would invite our moms to that sonogram--I think they are so excited. I took the day off and made an early appointment so we can go shopping afterwards. I will let everyone know how it goes!!!
